Isle of Wight Studio Glass Newsletter – May 2013

Richard Harris writes: We finally said goodbye to Old Park Studio during April. The last two weeks were frenetic to say the least. The task of moving the very heavy plant and equipment into storage had mostly been accomplished in March, and after that we had the sense that the main task was now complete, and the rest would be a bit of a doddle. Well we were wrong! What was left was a studio looking rather like a war zone. Some of what was left we didn’t want, so we had to get rid of it. But there was still a great deal we did want, including glassmaking tools, packing equipment, office equipment and boxes and boxes full of..…you guessed it…yet more boxes! Those lovely cardboard cylinders that your glass comes in occupy a great deal of space. There seemed to be a moratorium on getting rid of paperwork in the old company, and for many days Tim would test the wind direction hoping that he could have yet another bonfire, and that there would be a North wind to blow the smoke out to sea.
